The University of Medical Sciences, Ondo, has produced its first set of graduates from its Professional Diploma in Health Assistance and Caregiving programme, with 90 students completing the course at a maiden graduation ceremony held at the institution's main auditorium, Odosida Campus.

The Deputy Vice Chancellor, Professor Patrick Osho, represented the Vice Chancellor, Adejuyigbe, at the ceremony and described the occasion as both a celebration of academic achievement and a reflection of the graduates' character. "This graduation is not only a recognition of academic success but also a reflection of your compassion, resilience, and commitment to service," he stated.

Osho noted that the programme was designed to equip students with practical skills required to function effectively on the frontline of care, adding that their roles would be instrumental in restoring dignity and providing comfort to patients across diverse healthcare settings. He urged the graduates to maintain the highest standards in their careers. "The university remains committed to producing professionals who combine technical competence with empathy. You are therefore urged to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, and excellence in your careers," he affirmed.

The Director of the Programme, Professor C. J. Olowookere, addressed the graduates on the nature of their chosen field. "Caregiving is a calling. Carers serve not only as healthcare providers but also as companions, advocates, and sources of hope to vulnerable individuals," he stated. He encouraged them to embrace lifelong learning and prioritise self care, noting that continuous professional development remains essential in an evolving healthcare landscape.

The Vice Chancellor, in his address delivered through his representative, noted that the graduation reinforced the institution's commitment to strengthening healthcare delivery through skilled manpower development, adding that the milestone would address growing demands within the healthcare sector.
