Osun State University has matriculated 678 postgraduate students at its 11th postgraduate matriculation ceremony in Osogbo, with the Vice Chancellor urging the new intake to direct their research towards solving real problems in Nigerian society.
Professor Clement Adebooye addressed the students on Wednesday, challenging them to look beyond academic certificates. "The world today is in dire need of innovative thinkers, problem solvers, and ethical leaders. Let your research address real societal challenges. Let your ideas transform communities. Let your contributions make a difference," he stated.
The Vice Chancellor disclosed that 1,100 applicants sought admission into the university's postgraduate programmes, out of which 801 were offered admission. Of those, 707 collected their admission letters and 678 completed the process by paying their acceptance fees.
"You are, therefore, not just students, you are a select group, chosen on merit, and entrusted with the responsibility of upholding the academic excellence for which this University is known," Adebooye affirmed.
He also warned the students against academic misconduct, urging them to maintain integrity throughout their studies. "Avoid all forms of academic misconduct. Uphold the highest standards of scholarship. Let your work speak for you," he noted.
Adebooye described UNIOSUN as one of the fastest growing universities in Nigeria, adding that its commitment to a stable and uninterrupted academic calendar had become a defining feature of the institution.
