Students from vulnerable families across Zamfara State have received support from the AUG Foundation, which is funding and actively supervising 200 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination registrations.
The organisation selected beneficiaries from Gusau, Bungudu, Maru, Tsafe, Dansadau, and Kwatarkwashi emirate councils, deliberately using traditional structures to ensure transparency and equitable representation throughout the state.
Representatives of beneficiaries expressed gratitude during the registration exercise in Gusau, characterising the intervention as a timely relief that has restored confidence among aspiring students who had nearly abandoned tertiary education plans due to financial constraints.
Comrade Abdul Bala Gusau, State Coordinator of the Foundation representing the founder, Malam Abdulhafiz Umar Barau (Dan Isan Gusau / Magayakin Tsafe), stressed that the programme aims to cushion the impact of economic hardship on vulnerable households.
"This initiative is part of our broader educational support programme. We are ensuring that no qualified student in Zamfara is denied the opportunity to pursue tertiary education due to financial constraints," Comrade Gusau stated.
The Foundation is not merely providing financial support; it is directly monitoring the registration process to ensure proper documentation without obstacles or bureaucratic delays.
Comrade Gusau explained that coordination through emirate structures was deliberately chosen to guarantee grassroots access rather than limiting the programme's scope, ensuring no community feels excluded from the selection process.
He revealed that students who perform exceptionally in the examinations may be considered for additional sponsorship under the Foundation's scholarship scheme, extending support beyond initial registration assistance.
The AUG Foundation, under Malam Abdulhafiz Umar Barau's leadership, continues implementing programmes in education, healthcare, food security, and direct financial support for vulnerable individuals across Zamfara State.
The organisation reaffirmed its commitment to youth empowerment, people centered development, and inclusive humanitarian service, with the JAMB sponsorship representing one element of its broader strategy to address educational access barriers facing young people in the state.
