Akwa Ibom State University has begun admitting students into sixteen newly accredited undergraduate programmes following approval from the National Universities Commission for the 2025/2026 academic session.

The university's Registrar, Dr Ebi G. Eno-Ibanga, FNIM, announced the development in an official statement, revealing that the new courses span health sciences, environmental design, management, arts, education, social sciences, and engineering.

The approved programmes cover diverse fields including health sciences, environmental design, management, arts, education, social sciences, and engineering. The newly accredited courses are:

  1. Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm. D)

  2. B.A. Music

  3. B.Sc. Architecture

  4. B.Sc. Urban and Regional Planning

  5. B.Sc. Estate Management

  6. B.Sc. Surveying and Geoinformatics

  7. B.Sc. Building

  8. B.Sc. Quantity Surveying

  9. B.Sc. Fine and Applied Arts

  10. B.Sc. Local Government and Development Studies

  11. B.Sc. Project Management

  12. B.Sc. Peace and Conflict Resolution

  13. B.Ed. Guidance and Counselling

  14. B.Eng. Automotive Engineering

  15. B.Eng. Computer Engineering

  16. B.Eng. Telecommunications Engineering

Dr Eno-Ibanga stated that "this is to inform the public and especially prospective candidates seeking admission into the underlined disciplines that the National Universities Commission has granted approval to Akwa Ibom State University to offer the listed programmes with effect from the 2025/2026 Academic Session."

The programmes will be offered across the university's Main Campus in Ikot Akpaden, Mkpat Enin Local Government Area, and the Obio Akpa Campus in Oruk Anam Local Government Area.

According to the Registrar, the approval reflects regulatory confidence in the institution's infrastructure, staffing quality, and curriculum preparedness to deliver specialised training in critical professional and creative fields.

The university disclosed that admission into the new disciplines has commenced, with comprehensive details to be released through official communication channels.

The Registrar indicated that application procedures, entry requirements, and departmental guidelines would be communicated through verified university channels to ensure transparency and proper guidance for intending applicants.
