At least 742 students from various disciplines enrolled at Anchor University in Ayobo, Lagos, for the 2025/2026 academic year. There were 21 postgraduate students and 721 undergraduates among the new enrollees.

Speaking at the university's tenth edition of the matriculation ceremony, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Samuel Ayo Bandele urged the students to focus on their studies and other acceptable pursuits and to behave well both inside and outside of the classroom.

He claimed that because Anchor University "is a community founded on godly values, moral discipline, and academic excellence," they made the right choice in continuing their education there.

The vice chancellor congratulated the students on their admission and encouraged them to be focused, committed, and fully dedicated to their studies and other lawful engagements as students of the institution, using the theme of the event, "Raising godly new generation graduates in a faith-based university in Nigeria."

He clarified that the university has all the necessary resources, including qualified and devoted staff, first-rate facilities, and a welcoming atmosphere, to teach and prepare students with the knowledge, abilities, and moral fibre that will make them responsible and suitable graduates in any field.

He stated that although they would have freedom as young adults, they would also be subject to limitations because of the rules and regulations that govern their behaviour as university community members.

He also encouraged them to make personal goals and work towards achieving them.

According to him, students should run the race patiently and with fear of God in order to win the crown because the path to the top of life is always difficult and demands a lot of sacrifice and work.

Additionally, the students were cautioned by Prof. Bandele, a former vice chancellor of Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti, to refrain from any unruly behaviours and activities, including fighting, drug abuse, cultism, hooliganism, exam malpractice, indecent clothing, and so on.

He emphasised that the university has zero tolerance for vices and that any student who disobeys the rules will face appropriate disciplinary action, including expulsion if required.

As a faith-based institution, he asserts that Anchor University must adhere to the tenets of holiness and righteousness taught by our Chancellor, Pastor W.F. Kumuyi, and our Owner, Deeper Life Bible Church.

“And that is why you are expected to pursue excellence all around by attending every fellowship and spiritual gathering expected of you, being punctual in class and at meetings and also respecting constituted authorities and the elders,” he stressed.

He claims that since our church, Deeper Life Bible Church, is well-known throughout the world for preaching holiness and righteousness, we don't need to act as though we don't preach the same message as a school because society is full of bad behaviour, including youths having extramarital affairs.

The VC said, "We must all work together to raise godly, well-behaved children who will solve problems for society rather than cause them.

He asked parents and guardians to help the university administration train their children to be relevant to society and themselves before they graduate, rather than letting them fall behind in their duties.
