Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta, has approved the appointment of 24 Senior Academic Staff following the Governing Council's statutory meeting held on Tuesday, 14th July 2026.
The appointments comprise ten Chief Lecturers, thirteen Principal Lecturers, and one Chief Technologist, covering the 2022, 2023, and 2024 promotion years, and take retrospective effect from 1st October of each respective year.
The Chairman of the Governing Council, Emeritus Professor Kamaldeen Balogun, reaffirmed the Council's commitment to ensuring that staff promotions and appointments are processed promptly as and when due. He explained that the exercise is aimed not only at motivating staff but also at repositioning the Polytechnic to its rightful place among the comity of Polytechnics in Nigeria, commending the dedication, resilience and commitment of members of staff to the growth and development of the Institution.
Balogun, who was appointed Chairman of the 11th Governing Council by Governor Dapo Abiodun in August 2022, chairs a 14 member Council reconstituted by the Ogun State Government in November 2025. He is also the Dean of the College of Arts, Social and Management Sciences at Crescent University, Abeokuta, and has previously chaired other government appointed panels in the State's education sector.
The Rector of the Polytechnic, Architect Dr 'Koye Jolaoso, congratulated the beneficiaries and reassured all staff members of the Institution's commitment to fairness, equity and justice. He urged the appointees to justify their appointments through greater dedication, enhanced productivity, and commitment to duty.
Jolaoso, who assumed office as the 10th substantive Rector of the Polytechnic in December 2024, is the first alumnus to lead the 46 year old Institution. His administration has pursued a rebranding and repositioning agenda, including a strategic partnership with the Canadian Education Council aimed at expanding international academic and career opportunities for students.
Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, established during the 1978/79 academic session, is named after Chief Moshood Kashimawo Olawale Abiola, who was elected President of Nigeria in 1993 but was prevented from taking office.
