Ekiti State University has confirmed the receipt of N3,156,459,500 from NELFUND, a disbursement that has cleared the institutional fees of 10,457 students for the 2025/2026 academic session.
In an official acknowledgement letter dated 13 July 2026, addressed to the Managing Director/CEO of NELFUND, Akintunde Sawyerr, the Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Joseph Ayodele, detailed seven disbursement batches received by the Institution between February and March 2026.
According to the letter, the disbursement began on 9 February 2026 with an initial payment of N309,315,625 for 1,093 student beneficiaries, followed by N93,949,750 for 270 students on 16 February, N340,625,000 for 1,070 students on 18 February, and N676,595,875 for 2,307 students on 24 February.
The payments continued into March, with the largest single disbursement of N897,140,250 received on 10 March for 3,048 students, followed by N535,011,125 for 1,713 students on 23 March, and a final batch of N303,822,375 for 956 students on 30 March.
Ayodele expressed gratitude on behalf of the Institution, commending the timely support and noting that the intervention had directly facilitated the payment of tuition fees and kept thousands of students in their classrooms. He stated that with the institutional disbursement process for the session now complete, the University looks forward to continued collaboration with NELFUND in subsequent academic sessions to further expand access to higher education through sustainable student financing.
