The Commander of 301 Artillery Regiment, Colonel Suobor Beke, has reaffirmed the Nigerian Army's commitment to protecting students and staff of Federal University Kashere, Gombe, during a familiarisation visit by the institution's Vice Chancellor on Tuesday, 24th February 2026.
Professor Mohammed Inuwa Ja'afar, Vice Chancellor of Federal University Kashere, Gombe, led a delegation to the Headquarters of 301 Artillery Regiment in Gombe State to discuss security collaboration between both institutions.
Lieutenant Kingsley Ugwuoke, Assistant Director of Army Public Relations at 301 Artillery Regiment, disclosed that Colonel Beke expressed pleasure during the visit and emphasised the Regiment's unwavering commitment to the safety of lives and property within its areas of responsibility.
The Commander stressed that the Nigerian Army remains proactive in addressing security matters and will continue deploying necessary resources to support the safety of students in Gombe.
Colonel Beke emphasised the need for robust synergy towards enhanced security architecture in the state, assuring the delegation of sustained collaboration between the Regiment and the University.
During the interactive session, Professor Ja'afar noted the importance accorded to security in the state and particularly within the university campus, exploring the need to strengthen the relationship between the institution and the Nigerian Army.
"We should strengthen the relationship, especially when it comes to the security of lives and the property of students. We are happy that the presence of troops has boosted confidence in the general area," Professor Ja'afar remarked.
The Vice Chancellor requested increased collaboration in tackling existing and emerging security challenges facing the university community, acknowledging that military presence has already improved security confidence in the area.
The meeting provided opportunities for both parties to discuss practical measures for enhancing campus security and addressing potential threats to students and university property.
The visit included the Vice Chancellor endorsing the Visitors' register and receiving a souvenir from the Regiment, with the event concluding with a group photograph capturing the historic engagement between military and academic leadership.
The collaboration reflects growing recognition among Nigerian universities of the importance of partnering with security agencies to ensure safe learning environments, particularly in regions facing security challenges.
