For the second time in the history of the Northwest 3×3 Basketball Championship, Bayero University Kano has left the competition as champions, completing the tournament at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, without suffering a single defeat across six matches.

The competition brought together six Universities from across Northern Nigeria, and BUK proved the strongest side throughout, winning every fixture from the opening group stage through to the final. Their run included a 10 point demolition of Northwest University, Kano, a 14 point defeat of the Air Force Institute of Technology, a 2 point victory over the Federal University of Education, Kano, and a 10 point win against the Federal University of Transportation, Daura.

The title was secured in a closely contested final against host institution ABU Zaria, which BUK won 2 points against their opponents, a margin that reflected the competitive nature of the decider.

On returning to campus, the squad presented the championship trophy to Vice Chancellor Prof. Haruna Musa, who received the team and congratulated the athletes on their performance. He urged them to sustain and improve on their current standard and reaffirmed the University management's commitment to sports development. Cash rewards were also distributed to the players in recognition of their discipline and teamwork.

For a University that continues to strengthen its presence in collegiate sport, a second championship title and a perfect tournament record represent exactly the kind of result that builds a programme's reputation over time.
