The Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), has appointed Professor Olabode Olatunbosun of the Department of Data Science as Dean, School of Computing, effective August 1, 2026, for a two year term.

Olabode obtained his B.Tech in Industrial Mathematics and Computer, M.Tech, and PhD in Computer Science from FUTA in 1991, 1999, and 2005, respectively. He also holds an M.Tech in Statistics from FUTA, obtained in 2015, and an M.Sc in Peace and Security Studies from Ekiti State University, Ado Ekiti, obtained in 2021.

He joined FUTA as a Graduate Assistant in the Department of Industrial Mathematics and Computer Science in 1995, becoming a Professor in the Department of Computer Science in 2015. His published research has covered machine learning and artificial intelligence, including a study on mobile health technology for remote medical consultations.

He has served as Acting Head of the Computer Science Department and has sat on several University committees. Outside FUTA, he has worked as an external examiner for undergraduate and postgraduate programmes at Novena University, Delta State; Joseph Ayo Babalola University, Ikeji Arakeji; Achievers University, Owo; Kings University, Ode Omu, Osun State; Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko, Ondo State; Caleb University, Imota; and Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences, Coimbatore, India.
