Dr Maruf Alausa, who is the Minister of Education, has commissioned a modern Library at the Federal University Gusau, Zamfara State, which was constructed under the Tertiary Education Trust Fund 2025 Annual Intervention.

The Library construction, which began in 202,1 was completed under the administration of the outgoing Vice Chancellor, Professor Muazu Abubakar.

The library has a capacity of 1,100 students and is equipped with internet facilities to enhance teaching and learning.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony on Tuesday, Dr Maruf Alausa, who was represented by the Vice Chancellor, Professor Muazu Abubakar, said the library was constructed to ease learning at the institution.

He said, “This library was constructed with a view to bringing a source of research to the doorstep of the learning students of the University and even beyond.”

He went on to stress that the library, which includes relevant sections, shelves, and internet facilities, was designed solely to foster the development of educated and productive future generations of the country.

Speaking during his address, the Vice Chancellor said the library would be a significant addition to the education sector, which would not only benefit the host community but the entire nation.

He said, “Education is an opener for all successes in human endeavour".

“It is a lack of education that causes many of the security challenges bedevilling our state and country at large".

“Illiteracy remains the central source of crimes and criminal activities, including banditry, kidnapping, and other groups disturbing the peace and tranquillity of our great nation".

“This is why my administration prioritised human building projects, among which this completed library is a key achievement.”

A 200 capacity lecture theatre for Agricultural Science and an extension block of the Faculty of Science, both built under the TETFUND 2025/2026 Annual Intervention, were also commissioned.

These projects were commissioned by the Executive Secretary of TETFUND, Arc Sonny Echono, and the Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission (NUC), Professor Yusufu Ribadu, respectively.
