The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) on Tuesday, 3rd February, 2026, placed a hold on the selection of examination towns for candidates registering for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) in Ekiti state.
The Suspension however, is to enable the board to reorganise and restructure the town to ensure the centres are not so far away from candidates, hence easily overcoming the transportation barrier on examination days.
This was communicated by the Public Communication Advisor of JAMB, Dr Fabian Benjamin. Based on his announcement, candidates are only allowed to select towns of their choice if they are the closest to them.
He clearly stated that the JAMB board figured this abnormality after registration for the 2026 UTME already commenced, and so it saw the urgency for adjustments before the main examination kicksoff.
The entire process of centre adjustment is supposed to be concluded shortly, but for the time being, the selection of examination towns has been placed on hold in Ekiti State.
The examination body, on a final note give its sincere apology for the inconvenience it may have caused candidates in Ekiti state who had plans of selecting their examination on the ongoing registration exercise.
The Advisor also strongly pointed out that JAMB is putting every necessary factor in place to make sure candidates are treated with dignity and respect throughout their 2026 UTME examination process.
