The Federal University of Education, Zaria, has issued a stern warning that disciplinary action awaits students found engaging in unauthorized commercial activities. The institution stated that any violation of its new directive would attract sanctions in line with the rules and regulations governing student conduct.
A notice dated March 12, 2026, and addressed to all students in NCE and undergraduate programmes, explicitly prohibited the unauthorised sale of books and instructional materials. The university also banned the collection of money from fellow students on behalf of individuals or groups without official permission.
The directive specifically targets Class Representatives. The Dean of Students’ Affairs observed that some representatives had been selling reading materials or collecting funds without the necessary clearance. Management emphasised that holding a leadership position does not confer the right to conduct financial transactions or sales.
According to the notice, the ban covers the sale of books, reading materials, instructional items, and the collection of money for individuals or groups. The university maintained that no student is permitted to undertake these activities unless prior approval is obtained from the Dean of Students’ Affairs Division.
The institution stressed that the rule is plain and the warning is clear. Students were urged to comply strictly with the directive to avoid punishment. The university advised that the simple message for students, especially Class Representatives, is that no approval means no sales and no money collection.
