Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has approved payment for 6,000 Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board registration forms, providing free examination access to indigent students across Gombe State's 11 local government areas.
Comrade Muhammad Alamin Bako, National President of the Gombe State Students Association, who also serves as Senior Adviser to the Governor on Student Affairs representing Gombe North, praised the intervention in a statement issued on behalf of the association.
Bako emphasised that beneficiaries were carefully selected to ensure support reaches students genuinely needing assistance, particularly those from less privileged backgrounds across Gombe North, Central, and South Senatorial Districts.
He described the governor's gesture as a "lifeline" for thousands of families struggling to support their children's educational ambitions, noting that the intervention reflects the administration's commitment to human capital development.
According to Bako, the initiative demonstrates the governor's determination to make education accessible to all, regardless of socioeconomic background, positioning it as more than just financial assistance.
"This initiative is not just about paying examination fees; it is about securing the future of Gombe youths. It demonstrates His Excellency's passion for education and his desire to see our young people succeed," Bako stated.
The GOSSA president commended Governor Inuwa Yahaya for sustained investment in the education sector across the state, explaining that the free JAMB forms would significantly ease the financial burden on parents and encourage more students to pursue higher education.
Bako reaffirmed the association's continued support for policies and programmes that promote educational advancement and youth empowerment throughout Gombe State.
Education sector stakeholders have welcomed the initiative, describing it as a timely intervention during a period when many families face economic challenges that threaten their children's academic progress.
