Business leader Chika Ikenga has stressed the importance of equipping future generations with skills for economic growth following his appointment to the Board of Directors of the Business School of Michael Okpara University of Agriculture. He emphasised that academic institutions must focus on strengthening advanced learning to drive innovation.
"There is an urgent need to strengthen advanced learning and leadership development in our academic institutions so they can better equip future generations with the skills needed to drive economic growth and innovation," Ikenga stated.
The appointment was confirmed in a statement on Monday. A letter signed by the Registrar and Secretary to the Council, Nkeiruka Mbanasor, noted that the decision recognised Ikenga’s public service roles and his impact on institutional strengthening.
The letter read in part: "These accomplishments align strongly with the vision of Michael Okpara University of Agriculture’s Business School to serve as a hub for advanced learning, research, entrepreneurship development, and policy dialogue that support Nigeria’s agricultural and economic sectors."
Ikenga, who is the Chairman of Eunisell Interlinked Plc and creator of the Nature’s Gentle Touch brand, is expected to provide strategic guidance for the global positioning of the business school. His responsibilities will include contributing to the development of high quality academic programmes and advising on industry collaborations.
The statement highlighted that his leadership experience across industry and enterprise development would add value to the school’s mission. Under his guidance, the Eunisell Group has expanded its operations across industrial chemicals, oil and gas, and consumer goods manufacturing, contributing significantly to the industrial landscape.
