A landmark donation by Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) Ahmed Raji has positioned Iseyin, Oyo State, as a new destination for computer based examinations, following the formal handover of a 250 capacity Computer Based Test (CBT) centre to the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) on Wednesday.
The facility, delivered through the Raji Oke-Esa Foundation alongside renovated classrooms and administrative offices at Raji Oke-Esa Memorial Comprehensive High School, addresses a longstanding challenge for examination candidates in Iseyin and neighbouring towns who previously travelled considerable distances to access accredited testing centres.
Accepting the donation, JAMB Registrar Prof. Ishaq Oloyede described the gesture as strategically significant, noting its contribution to JAMB's national objective of extending computer based testing infrastructure to underserved communities beyond major cities. He praised Raji for translating legal excellence into tangible community impact and presented a commendation letter from Education Minister Dr Tunji Alausa, urging wider replication of such philanthropy.
Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, represented by Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology Segun Olayiwola, received the news warmly, describing the project as reinforcing the state's educational development priorities.
Senator Abdulfatai Buhari (APC, Oyo North) celebrated Raji's character and dedication to community upliftment. Former Nigerian Communications Commission Chairman Prof. Adeolu Akande welcomed the donation as a timely contribution to narrowing digital access gaps in Nigerian education, whilst former Iseyin Local Government Chairman Alhaji Saheed Yusuf highlighted the direct economic relief the facility would offer candidates no longer obliged to fund travel to distant examination venues.
Raji further announced the establishment of three academic awards at the school: the Prof. Ishaq Oloyede Award for overall best student, the Gov. Seyi Makinde Award for best female student and the Abdul-Akeem Olayori Award for best behaved student, each attracting a full free education package.
