Technical failures recorded during the 2026 Mock Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination have cost 23 Computer Based Test centres their accreditation, as the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board moves to protect the integrity of the main examination.

JAMB spokesperson Fabian Benjamin confirmed the delisting on Friday, noting that the board's internal review mechanisms flagged the affected centres after the mock examination held on March 27. The initial figure of 20 delisted centres, announced on March 31 alongside the mock results, was subsequently revised upward to 23 following a thorough review.

Benjamin explained that the mock UTME exists not only to prepare candidates but also to evaluate centres. "The exercise provides the board with the opportunity to evaluate facilities, identify technical shortcomings, and ensure only centres that comply with operational benchmarks participate in the main UTME," he stated.

Beyond the 23 delisted centres, JAMB issued warnings to 88 centres flagged for minor operational challenges, directing them to address identified deficiencies immediately or face further sanctions. Hashem Academy, located at 15 Owodunni Street, off Iwaya Road, Yaba, Lagos, was permanently barred from all future JAMB examinations.

Benjamin assured candidates that no one would be disadvantaged by the changes, urging them to continue printing their examination notification slips to confirm their venues, dates, and times ahead of the main UTME.
