Lagos State University (LASU) has announced that its 126th Inaugural Lecture will be delivered on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, by Professor Ayodeji Olasunkanmi Abari of the Department of Educational Management, Faculty of Education.

The lecture, titled "Leadership is the Answer... But What is the Question? An Octopus Threshold Model," is scheduled to be held at the Buba Marwa Auditorium, LASU Main Campus, Ojo, Lagos, at 2:00 pm, with guests expected to be seated by 1:30 pm.

Professor Abari holds a doctorate in Education, specialising in Educational Administration, obtained from Obafemi Awolowo University, and has built a research profile centred on educational leadership, entrepreneurship education and teacher productivity within Nigerian secondary and tertiary institutions. His published work has previously examined classroom management and student discipline, teachers' attitudes to reward systems, and strategies for restructuring public Universities to improve global competitiveness.

The topic of his inaugural lecture, framed around what the University describes as an "Octopus Threshold Model," signals an attempt to reconceptualise leadership theory by questioning the assumptions underlying conventional leadership models, a theme consistent with his broader academic interest in educational management and institutional reform.

The lecture forms part of LASU's long running inaugural lecture series, which has now reached its 126th edition since the University was established in 1983 under Lagos State law. Inaugural lectures at the Institution are reserved for professors marking significant career milestones, offering scholars a platform to present a summary of their research contributions to an audience of colleagues, students and members of the public.

The University has invited members of the LASU community and the general public to attend the event, in keeping with its practice of opening inaugural lectures to a wide audience beyond the academic departments directly involved.
