The University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) has announced that its 305th Inaugural Lecture will be delivered on Thursday, August 13, 2026, by Professor Mariam Adepeju Abdulraheem Mustapha of the Department of Public Law, Faculty of Law.
The lecture is scheduled for the University Auditorium, Main Campus, at 4:00 PM, with guests expected to be seated before the start time. The University has invited members of the campus community and the general public to attend.
Professor Abdulraheem Mustapha's inaugural lecture adds to a series that now stretches past 300 editions, reflecting the scale of UNILORIN's academic community since its founding in 1975. The University, which markets itself under the slogan "Better by Far," has continued the tradition under the leadership of Vice Chancellor, Professor Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, who has hosted previous inaugural lectures in the series, including the 294th lecture delivered in December 2025.
Records from the University indicate that Professor Abdulraheem Mustapha has attracted research funding running into millions of naira for work carried out within the Faculty of Law, placing her among a group of UNILORIN academics whose research has been separately listed for funding disbursement by the Institution. Her specialisation in Public Law situates her lecture within a discipline that regularly addresses questions of governance, rights and legal accountability, themes that inaugural lectures in the Faculty of Law have previously explored.
Inaugural lectures at UNILORIN are reserved for professors marking significant milestones in their academic careers, offering a platform for scholars to present a summary of decades of research to a mixed audience of colleagues, students and the wider public. Past lectures in the series have spanned disciplines ranging from the sciences to the humanities, with numbers running from the University's earliest editions delivered decades ago through to the present count above 300.
The University has not released further details on the specific title or subject matter of Professor Abdulraheem Mustapha's lecture beyond confirming the date, venue and time, though further information is expected to be issued closer to the event.
