The Chairman of the Board of Trustees for Throneroom College of Nursing Sciences, Mrs Alheri Yusuf, has pledged the commitment of the institution to produce compassionate nurses. She disclosed that the college plans to admit its first set of students from candidates sitting for this year’s Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board examination.
Yusuf, a former Director of Nursing at the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria, made this known during the inauguration of the board in Kafanchan, Jema’a Local Government Area of Kaduna State. In her acceptance speech, she described their appointment as a call to service while appealing for government support in security and road access to the institution.
“We are determined to produce not just qualified, but compassionate nurses,” she stated.
Proprietor of the college, Apostle Emmanuel Kure, inaugurated what he termed a “dream board” to drive the vision of the institution. He charged members to set high standards and position the college among top nursing colleges in Nigeria and beyond. Kure noted that the board was carefully constituted to provide leadership required to address critical manpower shortages in the health sector.
“This is a dream board. You have been selected based on your principles, track records and legacies. The expectation is clear, build a college that stands out in curriculum, discipline, ethics and overall excellence,” Kure remarked.
He paid tribute to Yusuf for accelerating the take off of the institution, noting that her expertise has been invaluable. The initiative was commended by the Chairman of Jema’a LGA, Mr Peter Tanko Dogara, who described it as timely.
The traditional ruler of Agwam Takad, Mr Tobias Nkom Wada, expressed hope that the college would bridge longstanding gaps in healthcare and nursing education in the area. Other members of the board include Dr Yusuf Dawan, P.K. Ayuba, Aishatu Akau, Danladi Kure Maidawa, Elisha Zokale, Dr Joel Adze Amwe, Pastor Martha Kure, and Dr Paul Dogo.
