Kwara State University, Ilorin, has recorded a research funding milestone after four of its teams secured competitive grants from TWAS UNESCO, and Nigeria's National Research Fund in the same cycle.

At the national level, three teams emerged as successful under the 2025 National Research Fund grant scheme. Dr Abdulwaheed Musa's team received ₦37,590,000, Dr Kehinde Peter Alabi's team secured ₦25,000,000, and a third team led by Dr Khafayat Olatinwo was awarded ₦20,435,900.

Internationally, a team led by Dr Bolatito Olanipekun, the Principal Investigator, has received a $43,913 grant from TWAS UNESCO.

The Vice Chancellor, Professor Jimoh Shaykh Luqman, presented the award letters to all four teams, describing their success as a demonstration of the university's support for impactful research and innovation. He called on the recipients to mentor early career researchers, stressing that sustaining a strong research culture would improve the institution's capacity to attract future grants and raise its global profile.

The Acting Director of University Relations, Dr Saeedat Aliyu, disclosed the grants in a statement on Tuesday in Ilorin.
