The National Emergency Management Agency Lagos Operations Office presented certificates to outgoing Batch A corps members of the NEMA/NYSC Emergency Management Vanguards Community Development Service group on 10th March 2026 at its Lagos facility.
Mrs Kabirah Adesekola, Schedule Officer, led the corps members to the event, where they were received by Mr Olatunde Mohammed, Head of Operations, along with other agency officials.
The programme featured equipment displays and practical demonstrations by officers from NEMA's Search and Rescue Department, as well as a presentation on fire safety and emergency preparedness.
Mr Akem Sunmonu, a representative of Rotary International District 9112, delivered a brief presentation highlighting the Rotary Club's role in supporting disaster management initiatives and strengthening community resilience.
The President of the EMVs CDS group, speaking on behalf of the corps members, expressed appreciation to NEMA for the training and exposure received during their service year, noting that the experience had significantly contributed to their personal and professional development.
Mrs Adesekola commended NEMA for its continued support to the CDS group and for equipping corps members with practical knowledge and skills in disaster management.
Mr Mohammed commended the corps members for their dedication and service to the nation, emphasising the important role of the EMVs in promoting disaster risk reduction and emergency preparedness at the grassroots level through public awareness and community sensitisation.
The certificates were presented to outgoing corps members in recognition of their commitment and contributions during their service year, with the training programme organised to enhance their capacity in emergency management.
The event brought together members of the NEMA/NYSC Emergency Management Vanguards CDS group at the Lagos Operations Office, giving them opportunities to interact with NEMA officials and develop practical skills in disaster response and emergency preparedness.
The training programme forms part of NEMA's efforts to build capacity among young Nigerians in disaster risk reduction and emergency management, leveraging the National Youth Service Corps platform to reach communities across Lagos State.
