Lagos State University (LASU) has released its full programme for the 29th and 30th Combined Convocation Ceremonies, confirming that events will run from Wednesday, August 12, to Sunday, August 23, 2026, at the Ojo and Epe campuses.

The Vice Chancellor, Distinguished Professor Ibiyemi Ibilola Olatunji-Bello, disclosed that the ceremonies would celebrate the achievements of graduating students across the University's faculties and programmes, with the combined exercise covering both the 2024/2025 and 2025/2026 academic sessions.

According to a statement issued by the Registrar and Secretary to Council, Emmanuel A. Fanu, activities open on August 12 with a Convocation Press Conference at the Senate Chamber of the Babatunde Raji Fashola Senate Building on the Ojo campus, followed by a sports competition for staff at the University's Sports Centre. Subsequent days include Staff Celebration Day, Coconut Breaking and Cultural Day, a Jumat Service, the Convocation Lecture, and the award of diplomas, first degrees, postgraduate diplomas and master's degrees, before the programme closes with a Thanksgiving Service on August 23.

The Management has also issued strict guidelines for graduands attending the ceremonies. Anyone holding on to an academic gown beyond Friday, August 21, faces a daily fine, while graduands who lose or damage their gowns will be required to pay replacement fees, set higher for postgraduate diploma and Masters graduands than for first degree graduands. Certificates will only be available for collection after the ceremony and once gowns have been returned.

Graduands have further been instructed to arrive at the venue before 9:00 AM each day, as latecomers will not be permitted into the Auditorium, and anyone who leaves their seat during the ceremony will not be allowed back in. Parents, guardians and guests have been advised to be seated by 8:30 AM for all sessions, with unauthorised movement and photography also prohibited to maintain order.

The 29th and 30th ceremonies follow LASU's 28th Convocation, held in April 2026 for graduands of the 2023/2024 session. The University's Management has separately clarified that allocation of faculty spaces for activities during the ceremonies remains the exclusive responsibility of its Space Allocation Sub Committee, following reports of unauthorised sale of exhibition spaces.
