Prince Abubakar Audu University (PAAU), Anyigba, has announced its 24th Inaugural Lecture, scheduled to hold on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at the University Auditorium, with the event set to commence at 10:00 AM and open to members of the University community and the general public.

The lecture, titled "Epistemology of Accountability: Societal and Religious Concerns," will be delivered by Professor Sani Rufai Abdullahi, a Professor of Accounting whose published research covers audit quality, financial reporting reliability and credit risk management within Nigeria's banking sector, areas that connect closely with the accountability themes of his inaugural presentation.

The event is being hosted under the leadership of the Vice Chancellor, Professor Salisu Ogbo Usman, who has invited stakeholders, academics, students and members of the public to attend the academic gathering.

The lecture forms part of a wider revival of PAAU's inaugural lecture series, which the Usman administration restarted in 2026 after describing it as a defining pillar of the Institution's academic culture. Under the current schedule, the University set out to deliver twenty nine inaugural lectures between April 2026 and June 2027, with sessions held roughly every two weeks and reserved for professors marking a significant academic milestone in their careers.

Earlier lectures in the revived series have spanned a wide range of disciplines. The 18th lecture examined forest ecosystems and sustainable resource management, the 19th explored brain signalling in addiction and chronic pain, the 21st addressed environmental values in education, and the 22nd traced the historical development of Christianity and its relevance to ethical leadership. Each lecture has typically featured presentation of a certificate, plaque and, in some faculties, a cash award to the lecturer.

Professor Abdullahi's lecture is expected to examine accountability from both societal and religious perspectives, drawing on his background in accounting and audit research to contribute to broader discussions on ethics, governance and public responsibility. The Institution has framed the inaugural lecture series generally as a platform for showcasing scholarly contributions while strengthening intellectual engagement across faculties.
