The Vice Chancellor of Lighthouse University, Prof. O.O. Osemwegie, has described the inauguration of a nine member Endowment Committee as a significant milestone since the university’s inception. He noted that the move signifies a dedication to ensuring sustained support for the mission of the institution.
"The inauguration of the Endowment Committee is indeed a milestone since the beginning of the university. Today, we celebrate a collective vision for excellence in education, innovation, and the pursuit of knowledge that has been the cornerstone of Lighthouse University," Osemwegie stated.
The ceremony took place at the university campus in Evbuobanosa, Edo State, with the Chancellor, Rev. Dr. Felix Omobude, performing the inauguration. The team is chaired by Engr. (Dr) O.S. Owieadolor, while other members include Rev. M. O. Jimoh Kadiri, Rev. (Prof.) David Osifo, and Hon. Dns. (Mrs.) Irene Imilar. The Registrar, Mr. Olugbenga Olajide, will serve as Secretary.
Responding on behalf of the team, the Chairman described the appointment as an opportunity to serve. He acknowledged the enormity of the responsibility, noting that the strength of the endowments will determine how well the university secures the future for generations of students.
Rev. Dr. Omobude charged the committee to view their assignment as both strategic and relational. He emphasized that universities thrive when they cultivate good relationships with scholars and industry partners.
"Your success will be measured not merely by funds accumulated but by the impact sustained by students supported in research, advanced values preserved, asset growth, and communities served. Consequently, I am very confident and do not doubt that you will perform in this successful venture," the Chancellor remarked.
Elder Francis Idehen JP, a member of the Governing Council, congratulated the members and urged them to settle down quickly to meet expectations.
