Modibbo Adama University, Yola, will hold its 32nd Inaugural Lecture on Thursday, 6th August 2026, featuring Professor Baba Bukar Jakusko of the Department of Agronomy.

The lecture, titled "Plant Population Density, Crop Yield and Bridging the Yield Gap: An Agronomist in the Service of Mankind," is scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m. at Lecture Theatre I (Blue Seat), College of Medical Sciences, within the University.

Professor Ibrahim Umar, Vice Chancellor of the University, extended the invitation on behalf of the Council and Senate, welcoming members of the University community and the general public to attend.

Professor Jakusko, who specialises in Crop Production, is expected to examine how appropriate plant population density can improve crop productivity nationwide. His lecture will address strategies for bridging yield gaps, a subject organisers noted holds direct relevance for food security and agricultural development across the country.

Muhammad Nur Isma’il, Secretary of the Lectures and Award of Prizes Committee, confirmed the arrangements for the event in an announcement circulated to the University community.
