A Nigerian academic, Professor Ogechi Adeola, has been ranked as Rwanda's leading researcher in Business and Management, placing among the Top 10 Scientists in the country in the 2026 AD Scientific Index.

Adeola currently serves as Deputy Vice Chancellor (Research, Innovation and Enterprise) at the University of Kigali, a position she took up in January 2024 after previously serving on the Institution's Governing Board.

Before her move to Rwanda, Adeola built her academic career at Lagos Business School, Pan Atlantic University, where she was confirmed a full Professor of Marketing and headed the Department of Operations, Marketing and Information Systems. Her scholarly record includes more than 80 academic and practitioner articles and 17 academic books, with research appearing in journals such as the Journal of International Business Studies and the Journal of Business Research.

Her path into academia followed roughly 14 years in Nigeria's banking sector, beginning at Citibank Nigeria, before she earned a Doctorate in Business Administration and an MBA from Manchester Business School. She also holds a law degree from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, and was called to the Nigerian bar.

Adeola has taught and mentored students across several African institutions, including the University of Ghana Business School and the University of Professional Studies, Accra, and has served as an external examiner for PhD programmes at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology and Strathmore University.

The AD Scientific Index recognition follows her inclusion among the Stanford Elsevier World's Top 2% Scientists in 2025, extending a run of international acknowledgement for a researcher whose training and early career were rooted in Nigerian institutions.

The Index evaluates the performance and impact of more than 2.6 million researchers across 24,000 institutions in 221 countries, with rankings based on sustained academic influence rather than single publications.

For Nigerian students and early career researchers, Adeola's trajectory, from a Nigerian law degree and Lagos Business School professorship to continental research leadership, offers a reference point for what locally trained academics can achieve on international platforms, reinforcing Nigeria's standing as a source of research talent within African higher education.
