The Executive Secretary of the National Assembly Library, Henry Nwawuba, has received the National Coordinator of Special Study Centres for the National Open University of Nigeria, Ms Modupe Adesina, in a courtesy visit centred on expanding access to education and strengthening institutional cooperation.
During the meeting, both officials held discussions on how knowledge institutions and learning structures could be better aligned to drive human capital development across Nigeria.
Key areas of focus included the role of academic repositories in improving public access to quality information, the creation of accessible pathways for lifelong learning, and the use of digital and physical study infrastructure to close educational gaps nationwide.
Nwawuba commended NOUN's leadership for its work in making higher education accessible to a broad range of Nigerians and expressed appreciation to Adesina for initiating the visit.
The Executive Secretary reaffirmed his commitment to building institutional partnerships that position the National Assembly Library as a central resource for research, public literacy and continuous learning.
Both parties explored how aligning NOUN's open learning model with the legislative and research functions of the National Assembly Library could create broader educational opportunities for citizens, particularly those pursuing professional and academic development outside traditional university structures.
The meeting reflected a shared recognition that collaboration between knowledge institutions remained essential to delivering meaningful educational outcomes at scale and supporting Nigeria's broader development agenda.
