The National Examinations Council (NECO) has released the timetable and registration guidelines for the 2026 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) Resit examination.

The Resit examination is for candidates who have conditional deficiencies in English Studies, Mathematics or both subjects. It gives affected candidates another opportunity to meet the requirements for certification and placement into Senior Secondary School (SSS1) without repeating an academic year.

NECO BECE Resit Examination 2026

The BECE Resit examination is organised for Junior Secondary School (JSS3) candidates who did not fully satisfy the requirements in English Studies, Mathematics or both subjects following the release of the 2026 BECE results.

Candidates who successfully pass the affected subject(s) will qualify for certification and progression to Senior Secondary School.

Who Can Register for the BECE Resit?

The examination is strictly for candidates with conditional deficiencies in:

How Much Is the NECO BECE Resit Fee?

The registration fee is ₦3,750 per subject for each candidate.

Candidates writing only one subject will pay for one subject, while those sitting for both English Studies and Mathematics will pay for both papers.
