The Osun State College of Technology, Esa Oke, has received National Board for Technical Education approval for 20 new programmes and secured the re accreditation of 11 existing ones following a recent accreditation exercise at the institution.
The college's Public Relations Officer, Fatai Tijani, announced the development in a statement on Thursday, disclosing that the NBTE granted accreditation and approval to all programmes presented by the institution during the exercise.
Eleven existing programmes were successfully reaccredited across two levels. At the National Diploma level, the reaccredited programmes are Mechatronics Engineering, Computer Science, Agricultural Technology, Multimedia Technology, Arts and Industrial Design, Accountancy, Banking and Finance, and Business Administration. At the Higher National Diploma level, Banking and Finance, Accountancy, and Statistics retained their accreditation status.
The board also granted fresh approval for 20 new programmes at both ND and HND levels. The five new ND programmes are Mass Communication, Procurement and Supply Chain Management, Environmental Science and Management Technology, Food Science Technology, and Transport Planning and Management.
At the HND level, 15 new programmes received approval, covering Arts and Industrial Design in Textile and Graphics options, Office Technology Management, Agribusiness Management, Animal Production Technology, Crop Production Technology, Agricultural Extension and Management, Film and Multimedia Production, Library and Information Science, Artificial Intelligence, Cyber Security and Data Protection, Mechatronics Engineering Technology in Industrial and Automotive Mechatronics options, Marketing, and Taxation.
The Rector of OSCOTECH, Mr S. A. Adewumi, described the outcome as a reflection of the institution's commitment to quality education and continuous improvement in infrastructure, manpower development, and curriculum delivery. He expressed appreciation to the Governing Council under the chairmanship of Prince Diran Odeyemi, as well as management, staff, students, alumni, and other stakeholders for their contributions to the exercise.
Adewumi noted that the approval of the new programmes aligns the college's academic offerings with emerging global trends and industry demands, particularly in Artificial Intelligence, Cyber Security, Mechatronics Engineering, Environmental Management, Media and Communication Studies, and Agribusiness.
He assured prospective students and parents that OSCOTECH remains committed to delivering quality technical and vocational education to the highest professional standards.
