A total of 2,132 corps members have completed their mandatory one year national service in Osun State, even as the National Youth Service Corps declared 27 others absconders and extended the service year of 12 more over various infractions.
The Osun State coordinator of the scheme, Ekong Kubiangha, disclosed the figures on Thursday through a statement issued by the state spokesperson, Catherine Otemuyiwa. The 12 corps members whose service year was extended are from the 2025 Batch A Stream II, and their sanctions followed offences ranging from indiscipline to violations of the scheme's regulations.
Kubiangha confirmed that the 27 absconders were processed in line with the provisions of the NYSC bye laws.
The coordinator congratulated the outgoing corps members for completing the programme and commended them for their contributions to the growth and development of their host communities throughout the service year. He urged them to protect their certificates and uphold the values of discipline, patriotism and integrity acquired during service, describing the NYSC scheme as a platform for personal growth and national development.
Kubiangha also issued a direct warning to corps members regarding the forthcoming elections in the state.
"I want to caution corps members against partisan political activities and statements capable of exposing them to danger ahead of the forthcoming elections in the state," he stated.
"I urged you to remain security conscious, law abiding and focused on self development and economic independence," he added.
