Former President Olusegun Obasanjo, alongside the Pro Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of KolaDaisi University, Mr Remi Babalola, and other stakeholders, has charged the University's new Vice Chancellor, Professor Olajumoke Morenikeji, to provide visionary leadership driven by innovation, integrity and digital transformation as she assumes office.

The charge was issued on Tuesday during Morenikeji's investiture as the University's first female Vice Chancellor, with stakeholders urging her to consolidate the achievements of her predecessors while preparing graduates capable of addressing national and global challenges.

In a goodwill message delivered on his behalf by the Managing Director of OOPL Foundation, Mr Vitalis Ortese, Obasanjo congratulated Morenikeji on her appointment, describing it as a recognition of academic distinction and administrative competence. "As you assume full stewardship of this noble institution, pioneer innovation with purpose. Build an environment where academic rigour meets practical problem solving," he stated, adding that universities must produce innovators, thinkers and builders rather than merely award degrees.

The former President also commended the Founder and Chancellor of the University, Chief Kola Daisi, for what he described as a visionary investment in human capital through the Institution's establishment.

Babalola, describing the investiture as a defining moment in the University's history, called on Morenikeji to lead with courage, wisdom and humility, noting that the Governing Council envisions a globally competitive institution anchored on digital transformation, research and financial sustainability through strategic partnerships.

The Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Professor Adeniyi Osuntogun, charged the new Vice Chancellor to scale up academic and research output and position the University as a destination for innovation, science and technology, while commending the outgoing Vice Chancellor, Professor Adeniyi Olatunbosun, for strengthening governance and establishing the Postgraduate School.

Responding, Morenikeji unveiled a 13 point strategic agenda centred on curriculum renewal, research and innovation, artificial intelligence, digital transformation, postgraduate education, entrepreneurship and good governance, declaring her ambition for the Institution to become one of Africa's leading universities.

A former Vice Chancellor of the University of Ibadan, Professor Idowu Olayinka, offered goodwill remarks, while representatives of the University of Medical Sciences, Ondo, Olabisi Onabanjo University, Lead City University, Bowen University, Iwo, and Osun State University also delivered messages at the event.
