The University of Lagos has opened applications for the Prof. Ayo Ogunye Professorial Chair in Chemical Engineering, inviting distinguished scholars to occupy one of the institution's most prestigious academic appointments.

The successful candidate will be expected to teach and supervise courses at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, conduct research in a specialised area of Chemical Engineering, and organise periodic research seminars to advance scholarship in the field. The occupant will also be required to deliver an Annual Lecture during the tenure and a Special Terminal Public Lecture upon its conclusion.

To be eligible, applicants must hold a good first degree in a relevant discipline and a doctorate in Chemical Engineering, and must be of professorial standing. Exceptional candidates at Associate Professor level with a minimum of three years in that role, or Senior Lecturers with at least six years of experience, may also be considered. Evidence of analytical and experimental research, a record of supervising postgraduate students, demonstrated academic leadership, and proficiency in information technology are among the requirements.

The appointment carries a three year tenure with remuneration at CONUASS 7 plus a 40% markup, in line with approved professorial salaries for Federal Universities. Additional benefits include an official vehicle, housing allowance, and a conference and lectures allowance.
