Nigerian Academics, esearchers and early career Professionals have until 6 April 2026 to apply for one of four prestigious fellowship positions at Chatham House, the Royal Institute of International Affairs in London, under the Queen Elizabeth II Academy for Leadership and the Next Generation programme.
The ten month in person fellowships commence in October 2026 and are open to candidates from a range of professional backgrounds, including Academia, Government, Civil Society, Media, Business, and NGOs. Of particular relevance to Nigerian applicants is the Mo Ibrahim Foundation Academy Fellowship, which is open to citizens or dual citizens of any African country. The Richard and Susan Hayden Academy Fellowship is open to candidates of any nationality, making it a second viable option for Nigerian Professionals.
Fellows receive a monthly stipend of £2,565 to cover London living costs, along with relocation support covering travel, accommodation, visa fees, and the UK Immigration Health Surcharge. Additional research funding is provided for fieldwork, outreach, and events. Upon completion, fellows receive a five year Chatham House membership and access to a global network of Policymakers, Researchers, and Practitioners.
The Fellowship includes participation in a Leadership Masterclass Programme covering seminars, workshops, media training, and career mentoring. Fellows are also expected to conduct independent research aligned with Chatham House's strategic priorities, which include Africa's digital governance and AI strategy, global health sovereignty, international security, climate transition, and the future of the global economy.
Applicants must hold a bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience, demonstrate relevant research or professional experience, show leadership potential, and be proficient in English. A completed application form and CV must be submitted by 5 pm BST on 6 April 2026, with early submission strongly encouraged.
