Former Kwara State Governor, Dr Bukola Saraki, has offered financial support to Blessing Oluwafikayo Adisa, a First Class graduate of the University of Ilorin, to enable her to relocate to Italy for postgraduate studies.
Adisa had recently announced that she graduated with a First Class in Mathematics from UNILORIN and secured a fully funded master's scholarship in Mathematics at the University of Calabria, Italy, but appealed for financial assistance to cover her relocation costs. In a post on X, she wrote, "Help Make My Scholarship Dream Come True. I'm Adisa Blessing Oluwafikayo, a First Class Mathematics graduate (CGPA: 4.76/5.0) from UNILORIN. I'm happy to have been awarded a fully funded master's scholarship in Mathematics at the University of Calabria, Italy."
After her appeal circulated on the platform for several days, Saraki came across the post and pledged to cover the outstanding relocation expenses. Responding on X, the former Senate President described her achievement as extraordinary, noting that graduating with a First Class in Mathematics and earning a fully funded admission in Italy demonstrated excellence and the promise present in many young Nigerians.
"No young person who has worked this hard should have such an opportunity limited by the cost of getting there. It would be my privilege to support your journey by covering the remaining cost of your relocation," Saraki stated. He added that a member of his office, identified as Nancy, would reach out to her to congratulate her and urge her to continue making Nigeria proud.
The gesture has since drawn widespread commendation on social media, with many Nigerians describing it as a timely investment in academic excellence and youth development.
