Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, inaugurated a series of projects at Osun State University and appointed Mrs Victoria Adunola Samson, Chief Executive Officer of Bovas Group, as the third Chancellor of the institution on Monday.

Projects commissioned within the main campus in Osogbo included a sports complex, a three in one laboratory complex, a 500 capacity lecture theatre, and a 750 capacity lecture theatre, all funded by the state government through internally generated revenue.

Adeleke described Samson as a capable successor to the immediate past Chancellor, Apostle Folorunso Alakija, who served the institution from 2016 to 2026. He noted that Alakija's tenure produced the Modupe and Folorunso Alakija Medical Research and Training Hospital, fully funded by the Alakija Family and donated to the institution.

"Though her tenure has come to a successful conclusion, her remarkable legacy shall remain an integral part of the history of this university. Leadership is a relay, not a race. Every generation is called upon to build on the achievements of those who came before it," Adeleke said.

UNIOSUN Vice Chancellor, Prof Clement Adebooye, commended the governor for the appointment, describing Samson as a fit for the role through her track record as founder and Managing Director of BOVAS Oil and Gas. He noted that UNIOSUN had grown from a student population of 649 in 2007 to 42,000, and from 19 academic programmes at inception to 108.

In her acceptance speech, Samson said her primary focus would be infrastructure development in support of both students and faculty. She pledged to strengthen collaboration between the university and industry and to improve the institution's Webometrics ranking.

"We must ensure all hands are on deck to bring UNIOSUN into the top 10 in Nigeria within the next five years. I strongly believe this is achievable, with God's blessing," she said.
