For graduating students at Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), located in Awka, Anambra State, a group operating under the auspices of the Akpoazaa Foundation has extended its half-million-naira annual endowment fund.
The announcement of the renewal was made at the university's Awka campus during a courtesy call by Dr Frank Igbojindu, the founder of the Akpoazaa Foundation and group managing director of the Akpoazaa Group, to Prof. Bond Stanley Anyaehie, vice chancellor.
According to Igbojindu, the endowment was established in 2025 with the goal of rewarding and promoting exceptional academic achievement among graduating students.
He claims that three categories totalling ₦500,000 are given out: ₦250,000 for the university's overall best graduating student, ₦150,000 for the Faculty of Management Sciences' best graduating student, and ₦100,000 for the Department of Accountancy's best graduating student.
He went on to say, "This programme was established to recognise and reward exceptional academic achievement among graduating students and has since been formalised as an annual intervention to foster excellence, discipline, and merit."
"An additional 500 capacity event tent is being donated to help with the planning and preparations for the university's upcoming convocation ceremony."
This is also a component of our dedication to building facilities that will improve instruction, learning, and the development of human capital in Anambra State's higher education institutions.
Vice Chancellor Prof. Anyaehie responded by thanking the gesture and calling it a great example of private sector collaboration and alumni support in furthering the university's academic goals.
He said, “We urge you to continue. You are a product of this noble university, and you have come today to reaffirm what you started last year.”
The Akpoazaa Foundation endowment is still one of the prominent alumni-led programmes designed to inspire students and strengthen the university's culture of excellence.
