President Bola Tinubu has pledged his administration's readiness to continue providing infrastructure in the Federal Capital Territory for academia and professional institutions to thrive, describing infrastructure as the greatest enabler of economic prosperity.
The President, represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima, gave the assurance in Abuja while inaugurating the newly constructed Collected Road C01 with a bridge, linking the Body of Benchers, Nile University, and Baze University in the Institution and Research District, Abuja.
Tinubu explained that the district was conceived in the Abuja Master Plan to serve as the intellectual hub of the nation's capital, but noted that infrastructure deficits had long cut off what he described as brilliant minds at the Body of Benchers, Nile University, and Baze University.
He stated that moving between the institutions had previously been a daily headache for students, lecturers, and residents, adding that the new road had restored ease of movement and enhanced safety while creating an environment where academia and professional institutions can thrive without structural neglect.
According to him, building roads opens up districts, opening up districts invites investment, and investment drives national growth.
Tinubu urged the management and students of Nile and Baze Universities, the Body of Benchers, and residents of the area to protect and cherish the road, describing it as a daily reminder that government is committed to building infrastructure that carries their dreams forward.
He further stated that his administration would continue investing in cities, satellite towns, and rural communities, stressing that every Nigerian deserves the dividends of good governance.
The President commended FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, for his dedication to duty and commitment to delivering quality infrastructure befitting a nation's capital.
In his remarks, Wike reiterated the FCT Administration's commitment to ensuring that every district receives the attention of Tinubu's administration, noting that the removal of the FCT from the Treasury Single Account had enabled the execution of multiple projects across the city.
FCT Minister of State, Dr Mariya Mahmoud, thanked Tinubu and the leadership of the National Assembly for their continued support, commending Wike for translating architectural drawings into landmarks and turning the President's promises into reality.
