Mrs Folasade Tinubu Ojo has unveiled a tuition free scholarship scheme valued at ₦400,000 per student for over 1,000 indigent students seeking admission to Havilla University, Nde 3 Corner in the Ikom Local Government Area of Cross River State for the 2025/2026 academic session.
Jones Tangban, Chancellor of Havilla University and former representative of Ikom/Boki federal constituency, praised Tinubu Ojo for her generosity, highlighting its alignment with President Tinubu's Renewed Hope Agenda.
"Even though the scholarships are personally funded, this gesture aligns with the Renewed Hope agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's administration," Tangban stated.
The President's daughter unveiled the scheme on Tuesday to mark her second anniversary as Pro Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of Havilla University.
"As the Pro Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of Havilla University, this initiative reflects my commitment to youth empowerment and educational advancement," Tinubu Ojo, who is the Iyaloja General of Nigeria, stated.
She described education as "the only leveller between the rich and the poor in society," emphasising that every Nigerian youth deserves access to quality education to ensure a brighter future for the nation.
Tinubu Ojo thanked the Governing Council and Chancellor of Havilla University for their exceptional leadership, which has positioned the university among Africa's top institutions. He encouraged prospective beneficiaries to take this opportunity seriously, both now and in the future.
During the event, she inaugurated the Folasade Tinubu Ojo Complex and laid the foundation for the Folasade Tinubu Ojo Centre for Vocational Studies on the university grounds, further strengthening her legacy in educational development.
