The University of Maiduguri (UNIMAID) has set January 26, 2026, as the official date for hostel allocation for all students, both fresh and returning.

This was revealed by the Dean of Student Affairs at UNIMAID in a memo circulated on January 12, 2026.

How to Apply for UNIMAID Hostel 2025/2026 Session

UNIMAID hostel allocation system has a different path from what we see in other Universities. Let's break it down;

From the 15th of January 2025, pins will be made available at the microfinance bank inside the university. This pin is your access key to booking and making payment for your bedspace.

The booking process

UNIMAID now uses the UMSTAD App for bed space allocation.

Download the App:

  • Search for "UMSTAD" (with the University of Maiduguri logo) on the Google Play Store.

Validate your PIN:

  • Open the app and click on "Validate your PIN."

  • Enter your Student ID number, the PIN you collected from the bank, and your gender.

Login & Profile Setup:

  • Use your ID number as the username and your PIN as the default password.

  • Upload a clear passport photograph and update your profile.

Reserve Bed Space:

  • Navigate to the dashboard and select your preferred Hall, Block, Room, and Bed Space.

  • Click on "Reserve bed space." Once reserved, you cannot change your selection, so choose carefully.

Payment Process

The hostel payment window will run from January 26, 2026, to February 9, 2026. Any payment not completed within this period will be revoked and taken away from the student.

After payment, print your Booking Slip and Hostel Permit. Take these, along with a passport photograph and your RRR number, to your assigned Hall Officer for final clearance and to receive your keys.

How to pay for UNIMAID Hostel 2025/2026 Session

  • Visit the UMSTAD App or umstad.online

  • Look for the generate RRR button associated with your reserved bed space

  • Make payment either online (ATM card) or visit any commercial bank with the RRR number generated from the bank.

  • After paying at the bank, return to the UMSTAD app or portal. If the status hasn't updated automatically, click on "Verify Payment" and enter your RRR.

Once verified, you must print.

  • The hostel accommodation permit.

  • The code of conduct form.

  • The emita receipt.

Rules and Regulations in UNIMAID Hostels

  • Students must carry their university ID card at all times and present it upon request by security or hall officers.

  • You must use the official university issued locks. Using personal padlocks on room doors is generally prohibited.

  • Possession of weapons (including knives or firearms), fireworks, or explosive materials is strictly forbidden.

  • UNIMAID has a zero tolerance policy for the possession, sale, or consumption of alcohol, Indian hemp (marijuana), cocaine, or any other illicit narcotics.

  • Smoking of cigarettes or shisha is banned within the hostel premises.

  • You are not allowed to harbor unregistered students. If caught, both the host and the squatter face immediate expulsion from the hostel.

  • It is illegal to sell or transfer your bed space to another student.

  • Loud music or noisy celebrations that disturb other students are not allowed.

  • Physical assault, fighting, or any form of "cultism" will lead to expulsion from the university.

  • Students are generally not allowed to host members of the opposite sex inside their rooms. Visitors must be met in the designated common room.

  • Visitors are not permitted to stay overnight.
