Female Staff at the University of Medical Sciences, Ondo State, have been celebrated for their exceptional contributions to advancing healthcare delivery and institutional growth, with the University's leadership acknowledging their critical role in shaping the Institution's vision and operations.
Prof. Ebunoluwa Adejuyigbe, the Vice Chancellor of UNIMED and the first female to hold the position, led the celebration during the commemoration of the 2026 International Women's Day, highlighting the dedication and professionalism demonstrated by women across various departments of the institution.
In a statement issued by the Public Relations Officer of the Institution, Issac Oluyi, Prof. Adejuyigbe emphasised the influence of female staff as educators, researchers and administrators, noting that their contributions extend beyond administrative duties to include clinical practice and groundbreaking research.
According to the University leadership, the role of female employees in the daily operations and long term vision of the institution cannot be overemphasised.
"Today, we recognise and appreciate your impact within our University community and beyond. May you continue to break barriers, lead with confidence, and achieve even greater milestones," Prof. Adejuyigbe said.
In a related development, the Institution has entered into a partnership with the Canadian Education Council to establish an International Career Centre aimed at enhancing graduate employability.
Students can access mentorship programmes, skill building workshops, career coaching, and local and international internships through the centre. The centre also prepares participants for the CEC International Employment Licence, a globally recognised credential for professional readiness.
The initiative includes Staff development, equipping UNIMED career personnel with modern tools, strategies and global best practices. CEC provides technical expertise, digital infrastructure and benchmarking, while UNIMED ensures operational support and student engagement.
The dual initiatives, celebrating female contributions and establishing the International Career Centre, reflect UNIMED's commitment to building an inclusive, globally competitive institution that recognises excellence across all sectors while equipping graduates with the tools needed to thrive in an increasingly competitive job market.
