Journalists have been recognised as vital partners in the growth and reputation building of the University of Ilorin, with the Institution's Vice Chancellor, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, commending members of the press for their consistent support and constructive engagement over the years.

Prof. Egbewole made the commendation on Tuesday during the University's annual Iftar programme held within the University's premises, where he hosted members of the press and other stakeholders.

The Vice Chancellor expressed gratitude to journalists for their role in sustaining the institution's progress, describing their partnership as invaluable to the university's development.

He noted that the relationship between the University and members of the press had continued to strengthen over time, adding that journalists had always honoured the University's invitation despite their busy schedules.

Prof. Egbewole stated that the presence of journalists at the University's functions and events demonstrated their commitment to the longstanding relationship between the Institution and the Media.

He stressed the need for sustained collaboration between the University and the press, emphasising that Journalists play a crucial role in promoting the University's achievements and enhancing its reputation both locally and nationally.

The annual Iftar programme, presided over by Prof. Nasir AbdulSalam, the chief Imam of the institution, brought together Principal Officers of the University, representatives of staff unions, International students and other members of the University community in an atmosphere of reflection and fellowship during the ongoing Ramadan.

The event underscored the University's commitment to fostering strong relationships with strategic partners, including the media, as part of its broader strategy to maintain transparency, accountability and effective communication with stakeholders in the education sector.
