Franco British International University, Kaduna, has formally admitted 362 students into its academic community during its maiden matriculation ceremony, held on Wednesday for the 2025/2026 academic session.

The ceremony attracted parents, guardians, government officials, academics, and well wishers from across the country. Students were admitted into four academic schools: the School of Nursing Sciences, School of Health Sciences, School of Computing, and the School of Social and Management Sciences.

The President of FBIU, Professor Abdullahi Sabo Muhammad, congratulated the matriculating students and described the occasion as a defining moment in both their lives and the history of the institution. "This ceremony signifies your official admission into the university community and the commencement of a new phase of learning, growth and personal development," he stated.

The Founder of the MAAUN Group of Universities, Professor Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo, charged the students to remain focused and avoid social vices that could undermine their academic ambitions. He reiterated the institution's zero tolerance policy on drug abuse and misconduct, stressing its commitment to maintaining a disciplined learning environment.

Gwarzo reaffirmed the university's dedication to producing graduates capable of contributing meaningfully to national and continental development. He also disclosed plans to establish an Internationalisation Unit to facilitate access to scholarships, academic exchange programmes, and global learning opportunities for students.

The Chancellor of FBIU, Senator Shehu Sani, urged the students to embrace discipline, integrity, and hard work throughout their academic journey, noting that good character and academic excellence remain central to both personal success and the university's reputation.

Other speakers at the event included the President of MAAUN Nigeria, Professor Mohammad Israr; the Registrar of MAAUN Niger and Nigeria, Dr Shuaibu Usman Tanko; and a representative of the Canadian University of Nigeria, Professor Ahmed Maigari Ibrahim. They described the matriculating students as fortunate to have secured places in one of sub Saharan Africa's emerging universities and encouraged them to maximise available opportunities.

The Registrar and Chief Executive Officer of the Environmental Health Council of Nigeria, Dr Baba Muhammad Yakubu, commended FBIU for offering programmes aligned with contemporary societal needs and global educational standards.

The Vice President of Administration of FBIU presided over the ceremony and administered the matriculation oath, formally completing the admission of the students into the university community.
