The Federal University of Lafia has announced its 46th Inaugural Lecture Series, scheduled for Wednesday, 29 July 2026, focusing on the expanding role of statistics in contemporary global affairs.

The lecture, titled "From Theory to Impact: The Evolving Role of Statistics in Modern Society," will be held at 2 PM at the Mall. Adamu Adamu Twin Hall, Permanent Site Campus, in Nasarawa State. The event is being hosted by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Mohammed Isa Kida, on behalf of the University's Governing Council, Senate, and the entire institution, with members of the general public and academic community invited to deliberate on the impact of statistical science.

According to the announcement, the lecture will explore how data and statistical methodologies continue to shape contemporary global affairs, extending an existing tradition at FULafia where each inaugural lecture marks a professor's formal presentation of their research and academic journey to the university community and wider public.

The 46th lecture follows a series of recent editions at the University, including the 44th and 45th lectures delivered by Prof. Mallam Al Bishak on African literary history, and the 43rd delivered by Prof. Ugo Elizabeth Aundu on special needs education, each drawing audiences from within and outside the institution.

To widen participation beyond the physical auditorium, the University has again made provision for virtual attendance, with interested participants able to join remotely via Google Meet.
