The University of Offa has scheduled its 2nd Inaugural Lecture for Wednesday, 29 July 2026, at the University Auditorium, with the Vice Chancellor, Professor Kazeem Alagbe Gbolagade, extending an invitation to the public to attend.

The lecture, titled "The Broken Social Contract: A Scholar's Critical Perspective on Tax Obligation, State Legitimacy and the Crisis of Development," will be delivered by Professor Kareem Adeyimika Adedokun, a Professor of Tax Law and Enforcement Policy in the Department of Business Law, Faculty of Law. Adedokun holds academic qualifications spanning NCE from Ilesha, an LL.B from the University of Ilorin, and an LL.M and Ph.D from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.

A statement from the Media and Public Relations Unit described the lecture as another platform through which the University intends to advance intellectual discourse, research excellence, and the pursuit of practical solutions to national and global challenges through scholarship and knowledge sharing.

The University of Offa, a privately owned Iinstitution located in Offa Local Government Area of Kwara State, received government approval in 2021 as one of twenty new private universities licensed that year, and has continued to expand its academic programmes since commencing operations.

Organisers extended a welcome to members of the academic community, legal practitioners, policymakers, tax administrators, researchers, students, and the general public to attend the event and engage with the discourse on taxation, governance, state legitimacy, and national development.
