The National Open University of Nigeria has scheduled its 41st Inaugural Lecture for Thursday, 30 July 2026, at the Conference Centre of the University's headquarters in Jabi, Abuja, with proceedings set to begin by 11 am.
The lecture will be delivered by Samson Sunday Afolabi, a Professor of Mathematics Education in the Department of Science Education, Faculty of Education, who will speak on the topic "The What, Why, Who, How, and Where: My Story in the edifice of Mathematics Education." Afolabi has built a long academic record in the field, with published research spanning mathematics curriculum innovation and instructional delivery across Nigerian classrooms.
The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Uduma Oji Uduma, is billed to serve as Chief Host at the event. Uduma, a Professor of Logic who was appointed to lead the University in October 2025, has previously described inaugural lectures as a platform for intellectual engagement, positioning them as key moments in the University's academic calendar where scholars present the depth of their research to the wider community.
The 41st lecture follows closely on the heels of the University's 40th Inaugural Lecture, held in June, and its 39th, delivered in April, continuing a steady sequence of scholarly presentations by professors across NOUN's faculties.
Members of the public unable to attend physically at the Abuja headquarters may participate virtually via the meeting link provided by the University.
