Governor Seyi Makinde has announced the successful return of approximately 65,000 out of school children to classrooms across Oyo State. This milestone, achieved through targeted educational interventions, was disclosed during a high level meeting with a joint delegation from the World Bank and the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) at the State Secretariat in Agodi, Ibadan.

The Governor confirmed that the state has significantly leveraged the Better Education Service Delivery for Additional Financing (BESDAAF) program. He noted that this initiative has not only strengthened access to learning but has also fundamentally improved service delivery across the state’s entire education sector.

During the session, Governor Makinde expressed formal gratitude to the World Bank and UBEC for their technical and financial partnership. He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to deploying the necessary resources to fully access all funds allocated to Oyo State under the current and future funding cycles.

Welcoming the delegation’s scheduled field visits, the Governor stated that the state is prepared to act on any feedback provided. He emphasized that the government remains open to recommendations that could enhance educational outcomes or address any remaining gaps in the system's implementation.

In response, the UBEC National Programme Coordinator, Mr. Mayowa Aleshin, explained that the mission aims to evaluate the project's progress and identify potential challenges. He commended the Oyo State Government for its unwavering support and the strong political will shown toward the program’s execution.

Additionally, World Bank team lead Mr. Shinsaku Nomura praised the Governor for his ongoing reforms. He specifically highlighted the administration's successful efforts in expanding quality education access, marking a significant step forward for the state's academic infrastructure.
