The Imo State University Alumni Association has constituted a fresh eleven member Board of Trustees, with Okey Ozumba emerging as chairman following an Online Annual General Meeting held last Saturday.
The virtual meeting was convened ahead of the expiration of the Board previously led by Chinwe Mbakwem, and members present ratified the nominees put forward by the National Executive Committee for the incoming Board.
Sinikiem Ayoko, also known as Radio Doctor, who serves as the association's Publicity Secretary, confirmed in a statement that the newly approved Board convened its first virtual sitting the following Sunday, during which principal officers were elected. Dr. I. K. Ogbonna was elected secretary, working alongside Ozumba as chairman.
The remaining Board members include Clovis Okereke, Mr. Ben Alaribe, Princess Chyka Ukaga, Mr. Zephaniah Nwanochie, Sir Ekwerike Anozie, Ebitei Tonyon, Mr. John Ogbuji, Dr. Rosemary Oputa, and Lord Richard Amaihe.
Dr. Ogbonna, in his capacity as the new Board Secretary, signed a notification letter formally informing the National Executive Committee of the Board's inauguration and incoming leadership. The letter appealed for the continued cooperation of the Council to support the sustained growth and progress of the Alumni body.
The Board further used the correspondence to notify the Committee that it would assume full responsibilities immediately following the expiration of the outgoing Board's tenure, a move intended to prevent any gap in leadership.
Speaking on behalf of the National Executive Committee and the wider Alumni body, the President, Dr. Charles Nwosu, popularly known as Porpo, extended his congratulations to the newly inaugurated Board of Trustees and its leadership.
