For the 2025/2026 academic session, LASU has officially announced its cut off mark for the admission process. This cut off is the minimum score prospective students have to attain in the 2025 UTME to give them access to the Post UTME screening form of the university.

LASU Grading System

LASU has introduced a new grading formula for calculating aggregate scores for admission, as confirmed in the ongoing 2025/2026 admission screening registration.

This change affects how both JAMB and O’Level results are calculated, and all applicants are advised to take note and adjust their expectations accordingly.

Here’s the grading point formula:

JAMB Score Calculation:

Multiply your JAMB score by 0.15

O’LEVEL Calculation (Best 5 relevant subjects):

A1 = 8 points

B2 = 7 points

B3 = 6 points

C4 = 5 points

C5 = 4 points

C6 = 3 points

Add both your JAMB and O’Level points together to get your total aggregate score.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Does LASU accept 180 or 190 for any course?
A. No, for the 2025/2026 session, the university has strictly pegged the minimum score at 195.

Q. Does meeting the 195 cut off mark guarantee admission?
No, 195 is only the eligibility mark to participate in the screening. Admission depends on your final aggregate score and departmental competition.

Q. Does LASU have different cut off marks for indigenes and non indigenes?
A. The JAMB cut off 195 is the same for everyone. However, in the final merit list, indigenes may get admitted with slightly lower aggregate scores than non indigenes due to the 70/30 admission policy.

Q. How does LASU calculate the admission aggregate?
A. LASU uses a 50/50 formula: 50% from your JAMB score and 50% from your O'level results (top 5 relevant subjects).

Q. Can I use two sittings for competitive courses?
A. Yes, but LASU typically deducts a small point (around 0.3 to 2 points) from the aggregate of candidates using two sittings.

Q. Does LASU accept second choice candidates?
A. No, LASU only considers candidates who chose them as their first choice in JAMB.

Q. What if I meet the cut off but don't get my chosen course?
A. LASU may offer you "Admission with Transfer," moving you to a different department where your aggregate score fits.

Q. Are there courses I can get with exactly 195?
A. Yes, less competitive courses in the Faculty of Education, Arts, or Agriculture may accept candidates with scores closer to the general cut off, provided they have good O'level results.
