Professor Raimi Abiodun Moronfolu of the Department of Human Kinetics, Sports and Health Education has emerged as the new Dean of the Faculty of Education, Lagos State University.

Moronfolu secured 79 votes to defeat Professor Simeon Adetunji Dosunmu of the Department of Educational Foundations and Counselling Psychology, who polled 57 votes, in an election held on Monday, 27 July 2026 at the 3in1 Executive Hall, Faculty of Education, Main Campus, Ojo.

The Returning Officer and Deputy Registrar/Faculty Officer, Mrs Modupe Obayomi Davies, formally announced the result after collation, describing the process as peaceful and transparent.

Obayomi Davies commended members of the Faculty for their strong turnout and orderly conduct, noting that the exercise reflected commitment to transparency, institutional integrity and democratic participation.

As Dean, Moronfolu is expected to provide strategic leadership aimed at strengthening the Faculty's academic standing, promoting research and innovation, enhancing staff welfare and advancing student excellence.

Management stated that the successful conclusion of the election reinforced the University's commitment to participatory governance and transparent leadership succession across its academic units.

The Vice Chancellor, Management, staff and students of Lagos State University congratulated Moronfolu on his emergence, wishing him a successful and impactful tenure.
